Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information find-a-teacher.com ("we", "us", "the platform") collects from teachers, institutes, and visitors, why we collect it, and how it's protected.
Information you provide directly
When you register and use find-a-teacher.com as a teacher or institute, we collect:
- Account details: name, email address, phone number, account type, and a password (stored in encrypted/hashed form, never in plain text).
- Optional contact details: WhatsApp number, website, Facebook/Instagram link.
- Advertisement content: titles, descriptions, qualifications, subjects taught, class formats, languages, and location details you choose to include (which may include specific streets, cities, districts, and countries).
- A profile picture, if you choose to upload one.
- Videos you choose to upload to promote your classes (see the dedicated section below — these are handled differently from other uploads).
- Messages sent through the site's contact/inbox features, including any file you attach to a message.
- Payment-related information when purchasing banner advertising, processed through PayPal — we receive a PayPal order ID and the payer's email address, but we never see or store your full payment card or PayPal account details directly.
Information collected automatically
We record the IP address associated with your account registration and store a session identifier in a cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use this information
- To create and manage your account, and to display your advertisements, profile, and (once approved) videos to the public.
- Every advertisement, profile picture, and video is reviewed by an admin before it becomes publicly visible — this is a core part of how the platform works, to keep listings genuine.
- To let prospective students or employers contact you through the site's messaging system, or reveal your phone/WhatsApp number if you've chosen to make them visible.
- To process banner advertising payments and display active banners.
- To send you account-related emails (for example, confirming your registration or a password reset). We don't send marketing emails.
Who can see your information
Approved advertisements, your public profile details, and approved videos are visible to anyone visiting the site. Contact details (phone, WhatsApp, email) are only shown if you choose to make them visible on a given advertisement. Our administrators can access account and advertisement details in order to review and moderate content. We don't sell your information to third parties, and we only share it with the third-party services described below where necessary to provide the platform's features.
Third-party services we use
- PayPal — to process banner advertising payments.
- YouTube (Google) — to host promotional videos teachers upload. See below for details specific to this integration.
Video uploads and YouTube
If you choose to upload a promotional video for your classes, the video file is sent directly from your browser to YouTube using Google's upload API — it is never stored on find-a-teacher.com's own servers. We only retain a reference to the resulting YouTube video (its video ID) and its review status in our own database, so we can display it on your advertisement once approved.
Uploaded videos are held privately on our shared YouTube channel until an administrator reviews and approves them, at which point they become publicly visible as part of your advertisement listing.
Find-a-teacher.com's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We request only the minimum Google API permission needed to upload videos on behalf of the platform's own YouTube channel — we do not request, and cannot access, your personal Google account data, Gmail, contacts, or any other Google service.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings, which removes your account and associated advertisements from the platform. If you'd like a video removed from our YouTube channel, contact us and we'll take it down.
