# Assistant Lecturer or Lecturer
Department of Computer Networks and Cyber Security – KIU University – Sri Lanka
KIU University is seeking a motivated and passionate Assistant Lecturer or Lecturer to join the Department of Computer Networks and Cyber Security within the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity for aspiring academics who are enthusiastic about teaching, research, innovation, and preparing graduates for the rapidly evolving fields of networking and cyber security.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and practical classes in Computer Networks, Network Engineering, Cyber Security, and related disciplines.
* Prepare engaging teaching materials, laboratory manuals, presentations, and digital learning resources using modern educational technologies.
* Support curriculum delivery through student-centered teaching methods and innovative learning approaches.
* Assist in laboratory setup, maintenance, and administration of networking and cyber security environments, including routers, switches, firewalls, virtualization platforms, cloud environments, and cyber security tools.
* Guide and mentor students in academic activities, projects, research, and practical learning.
* Assist in examinations, assessments, moderation, and academic record management while maintaining confidentiality and academic integrity.
* Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance initiatives, accreditation activities, and continuous programme improvement.
* Participate in research, scholarly publications, conferences, workshops, and collaborative projects with industry and academia.
* Support departmental administration, student recruitment, orientation programmes, outreach events, workshops, and faculty activities.
* Promote ethical cyber security practices and ensure all laboratory activities comply with institutional policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university in one of the following disciplines:
- Cyber Security
- Computer Networks
- Information Security
- Network Engineering
* Preferred Specializations: Candidates specializing in Cyber Security, Computer Networks, or Network Engineering will be given preference.
* Master’s Degree or reading for a PhD in Cyber Security, Information Security, Computer Networks, or a related field will be a distinct advantage.
* Professional certifications such as Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), CompTIA Security+, CEH, Fortinet, Microsoft, AWS, Linux, VMware, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
* Sound knowledge of computer networking, network security, routing and switching, virtualization, cloud computing, operating systems, and cyber security concepts.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office and online teaching platforms.
* Previous teaching, laboratory, research, or industry experience will be an added advantage.
