There are so many paper classes in the city of Colombo. Students are trying to attend for many different classes but the factor “time” limits them. We also have a paper class, but this is not just another paper class. We have several unique features.
Usually the class starts in the month of May/June of the second year, approximately 15 months prior to the final examination.
The main objective of this class is to give an appropriate training for students to write well defined and organized answers within a given period of time in a real examination atmosphere.
As MCQ paper is very much important to obtain “A pass” in the final examination, We allocate more time for MCQs. In addition to our own model MCQs, We go through past paper MCQs since 1974 or 1979.
Structured and Essay Questions since 1990 or in some sections even before 1990, are provided and selected questions are tested and discussed. In addition to the past papers we have our own model question papers as well.
We always maintain a very high standard. Most of our question papers are moderated by a panel of Lecturers all attached to leading Universities in Sri Lanka.
Usually we don’t give the same set of questions in every year. We always provide brand new, high standard, rights reserved questions for each batch.
Papers will be corrected by the examiner or fellow students under exchange basis.
Rules and Regulations pertaining to this paper class usually appear on our notice board two months prior to the starting date of the paper class.
To keep the competition & enthusiasm among students, we award prices (Rs. 1000 book voucher from Sarasavi Book Shop as each price) for two best students who scored highest marks in each test.
Finally, if you like to work in a competitive environment, if you can work hard, if you want to share your knowledge with other fellow students and if you are really trying to achieve a very high Z-Score with “A” pass for Chemistry, then this may be one of the places worth while to try. I will recall it again; this paper class is not just another paper class. U. P. De Zoysa is a veteran Educationist who served more than 18 years for the university system of Sri Lanka, in different capacities; Instructor, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and consultant.
He completed his primary and secondary education at Ananda College, Colombo, Sri Lanka and obtained the 1st degree at the Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
After his B.Sc., Dr. Zoysa completed his first postgraduate degree, M.Sc. in analytical chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Ananda Amarasekara at the Dept. of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Just after the masters, he joined as a researcher to the laboratory of agrochemical biochemistry, Dept. of biological and environmental science, Faculty of Agriculture Kobe University, Japan and thereafter he completed his Ph.D. in molecular probe designing with monoclonal antibody based ELISA systems at the same place.
He started his university teaching career as an instructor for teaching engineering chemistry for 1st year B.Sc Engineering Undergraduates at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 1986 and thereafter he served in the similar capacity at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Colombo.
After obtaining his Ph.D. he served as a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at the Dept. of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, and worked until his premature retirement at Department of Food Science, Faculty of LFN, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka.
Dr. Zoysa has a wide variety of expertise in the field of Chemistry. He has a sound knowledge of Analytical Chemistry, Specially in fields of Spectroscopy and Chromatography. He is one of the few Scientists in Sri Lanka who can handle Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopic problems theoretically and practically. He had a training in NMR techniques at Brucker Spectrospin, Switzerland and Faculty of Science, Kobe University, Japan. His knowledge in the field of bio analytical techniques is also amazing. He is one of the very few Scientists in Sri Lanka who can develop target specific polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies and ELISA systems for detection of specific analytes. He is very good in producing hybridoma cell lines.
